Dynasty S2 Episode 2 “Ship of Vipers ” -Review. Welcome to the Carrington manor, Cristal Jennings!

abc

Welcome to the Carrington manor, Cristal Jennings! Although Cristal only had a few minutes of airtime in Friday nights episode, the character was introduced as a longtime friend of Cristal Flores. When Blake tries to cut her a check, she claims she’s not there for the money and presents Blake a locket with a photo of her and Flores as proof of their friendship. She seems to be sincere – but with Dynasty, nothing is as it seems. Afterall, since Ana Brenda Contreras was cast as the Real Cristal, fans have been left with more questions than answers regarding her identity. What exactly are Jennings intentions? Is she really there to help Blake, or could her motives be less sincere?

In classic Dynasty fashion, Kirby Anders brought the DRAMA this episode! It’s clear that Kirby is a force to be reckoned with and has unresolved, deep rooted anger at Fallon stemming from her childhood living at the Carrington estate. She may have left the fight feeling victorious, but in the end Fallon is always one step ahead of her. Im looking forward to seeing Fallon and Kirbys relationship ( or lack thereof) throughout the course of the season. Could they work out their differences or are they destined to be enemies for the remainder of the series? Another person bringing the drama this episode? You guessed it. None other than Alexis Carrington. From providing Hank an expensive painting as collateral to breaking into Melissa’s house, Alexis eccentric personality and devious ways continues to remind me why Alexis remains a fan-favorite.

Another major storyline that will continue to unfold this season is the sale of Carrington Atlantic. From pretending to be married to Liam to accepting Max’s creepy sexual advances, Fallon is desperate for the sale of the company to go through. Will the sudden death of Uncle Max interfere with the business deal? Something tells me, Liam’s Aunt Mora will do everything in her power to ensure the Ridleys and the Carringtons never do business again.

Dynasty is shaping up to be one of the most dramatic (and glamorous) series this fall, and you do not want to miss an episode. Dynasty airs Friday nights at 8pm on the CW . Grab your popcorn ( and champagne), because Friday night’s just got a whole lot better!

Dynasty Season 2 Premiere – Review. Will the Real Cristal Please Stand Up?

lolFrom a potential multi billion dollar buyout of Carrington Atlantic to a budding new love triangle between Fallon, Culhane and Liam- Friday night’s season premiere of Dynasty set up multiple storylines for the season to come. And, it did NOT disappoint! In classic soap fashion, the show had no shortage of drama as new characters Kirby Anders and Cristal Jennings were introduced to the cast. Add a pregnant Melissa Daniels and a grieving Sammy Jo and things are about to become even more complicated in the Carrington manor. Dynasty is shaping up to be one of the most dramatic (and glamorous) series this fall, and you do not want to miss an episode.

Will the real Cristal Flores please stand up? Friday night’s episode of Dynasty introduced a new series regular to the cast, Cristal Jennings, played by Telenovela actress, Ana Brenda Contreras.  As reported by TVLine, Nat Kelleys character was recast with Contreras stepping in to play the “real ” version of the character. Jennings, who was introduced in the last few seconds of the series premiere, is an employee at a health and wellness center in Sedona, Arizona who has been captivated by the Carrington media coverage over the last few months. This has left fans wondering what exactly Jennings intentions are? Could she really be the “real” Cristal or is this just a ploy to manipulate a grieving, vulnerable Blake into living the luxurious lifestyle she has always wanted?

Another major storyline that will continue to unfold this season is the budding love triangle between Fallon, Culhane and Liam. With Fallon accepting Culhane’s marriage proposal whilst still pretending to be married to Liam, it is inevitable that lines will be crossed as Fallon navigates her feelings for both men. Personally, and this may be an unpopular opinion, I would like to see Fallon single at some point this season. Don’t get me wrong, Fallon is a complete badass whether she’s in or out of a relationship, but sometimes in order to truly find yourself, not being romantically involved with anyone is the only way to grow. Whether she likes it or not, Fallon is still grieving Cristals death, and although the Carringtons try to mask their emotions by throwing lavish 1920s inspired parties, it will take time for the family to properly heal and move on.

Dynasty airs Friday nights at 8pm on the CW and internationally on Netflix, the following day.  Grab your popcorn ( and champagne), because Friday night’s just got a whole lot better!

ALL AMERICAN – Series Premiere Review

am

Do you have a football sized hole in your heart ever since the series finale of Friday Night Lights? Have you been waiting patiently for a show to fill the void The OC left back in 2007? I’m glad to report the wait is finally over! All American, which airs Wednesday nights at 9pm on The CW,  encompasses the best qualities of both series while still managing to hold its own with its timely and socially relevant plotline. All American is shaping up to be one of the best new shows to come out this fall, and you do NOT want to miss an episode.

The pilot episode written by showrunner, April Blair, did an excellent job of introducing the characters to the viewer as well as providing sufficient backstory to propel the storyline forward. More often than not, pilot episodes tend to focus heavily on building the plotline, that viewers fail to connect personally with the characters. From Jordan and Billy’s strained father-son relationship to the budding love triangle between Spencer, Olivia and Leila- the pilot set up multiple storylines for the season to come while also pulling at the heartstrings of viewers.

By transferring to Beverly High, Spencer has a real shot of achieving his full potential and making his NFL dreams a reality. Although, as made evident in Wednesday night’s episode, Spencer’s transition from Crenshaw to Beverly High will not come easy. With Spencer trying to navigate his new environment and his teammates trying to undermine him both on and off the field, im curious  to see how Spencer will handle all of the obstacles thrown at him during the course of the season. As Coach Baker said, Im asking you to play for something bigger now,  and I look forward to watching Spencer rise to the occasion.

Ultimately, All American is The show to be watching this fall…so,  set your DVRs, because you do not want to miss a single second of it. Grab your popcorn folks, because Wednesday nights just got a whole lot better!

RIVERDALE Season 3 Premiere Review

Spoiler Alert- Do not read the following review if you have not seen the season 3 premiere of Riverdale. This Review contains spoilers. You’ve been warned!

From Betty Cooper walking-in on her family partaking in a presumably occult ritual to Archie Andrews pleading guilty to a crime he did not commit – last night’s season premiere of Riverdale set up multiple storylines for the season to come. And, it did NOT disappoint!

Last night’s episode dove deeper into the mysterious, Greendale  Farm and its impact on the Cooper family.  Although the farm and its leader, Edgar, have been of great help to Alice and Polly in the months following Hal Cooper’s arrest, Betty continues to question the farm and with good reason. In fact, at the end of the episode, Betty walks-in on her family participating in a supernatural ritual that involves Polly’s twins, Juniper and Dagwood levitating over a bonfire. This is leaving many fans confused, as in a recent interview with Build Series,  Lili Reinhart claimed there would be no supernatural elements or magic in the series. Perhaps Betty was just hallucinating? Possibly a result of her continued adderall abuse over the summer?

Nonetheless, I really appreciate Riverdale touching upon a very pertinent epidemic plaguing this generation: the abuse of adderall. Riverdale’s target demographic is comprised of millennials, in which adderall is increasingly becoming the drug of choice. And although Bettys situation may seem unrelatable ( you know with her father being the Black Hood and all), I commend the writers of Riverdale for touching on a subject so very few shows are willing to explore with their audience.

Another major storyline that will continue to unfold this season is Archie pleading guilty to the murder of Cassidy Bullock, a crime he did not commit. It will be interesting to see Archie serve time in Juvenile Detention , and to see his relationship with the Serpents evolve. Although I sense that Archie’s time in juvy will be short- lived, I predict this may cause problems in his relationship with Veronica. Afterall, it is Hiram Lodge who framed Archie for the crime, and even though Archie seems forgiving at the moment, a few months in juvy can definitely change his mind.

Grab your popcorn folks, because Wednesday nights just got a whole lot better!

Manifest “Reentry” Review

Life is complicated enough as-is. But, imagine boarding a routine flight back home, just to land and be told you’ve been presumed dead for the past five and a half years? Oh, and you can’t explain the mysterious voices inside your head? Yeah, life just got a hell of a lot more complicated. Welcome to the lives of passengers aboard flight 828.

On Monday night’s episode of Manifest, the show shed a light on the struggles faced by the Stone family as they adjust to their new normal. Whether it be Grace and Ben’s marriage, Michaela dealing with the end of her relationship or Olive trying her best to reconnect with her father, the episode focused heavily on the difficulty of reuniting with your loved ones after so many years apart. And although the passengers of flight 828 feel as though no time has passed, their family and friends have spent years grieving their loss and finding the strength inside themselves to move on. Last week’s episode concentrated primarily on developing the mystery of the series and only scratched the surface in terms of character development. So, I was definitely happy to get more insight into the challenges faced by the main characters and the difficult transition back to reality in the aftermath of flight 828.

The episode also touched upon what possibly could have happened in the five years that flight 828 went missing. If you were hoping to get some answers this week, think again. If anything this week’s episode will leave viewers asking even more questions as far as the mystery is concerned. Throughout the episode, I began to really pick up on the religious undertones of the show, whether it be through the mysterious shadow Cal drew in the family photo (the holy spirit perhaps?) or the woman stopping Cal only to exclaim “He has Risen!” However,  things took a dramatic turn in the last few seconds of the episode, when one of the passengers was shot dead in her home by a mysterious shadow. Could this shadow be the same shadow as in Cal’s drawing? Could the government actually be involved in the mystery? One thing’s for sure, the Government may try to desperately cover up their tracks but the bond of the passengers aboard flight 828 is unbreakable.

Fasten your seatbelts everyone, because we’re in for one hell of a ride!man
