Manifest “Reentry” Review

Life is complicated enough as-is. But, imagine boarding a routine flight back home, just to land and be told you’ve been presumed dead for the past five and a half years? Oh, and you can’t explain the mysterious voices inside your head? Yeah, life just got a hell of a lot more complicated. Welcome to the lives of passengers aboard flight 828.

On Monday night’s episode of Manifest, the show shed a light on the struggles faced by the Stone family as they adjust to their new normal. Whether it be Grace and Ben’s marriage, Michaela dealing with the end of her relationship or Olive trying her best to reconnect with her father, the episode focused heavily on the difficulty of reuniting with your loved ones after so many years apart. And although the passengers of flight 828 feel as though no time has passed, their family and friends have spent years grieving their loss and finding the strength inside themselves to move on. Last week’s episode concentrated primarily on developing the mystery of the series and only scratched the surface in terms of character development. So, I was definitely happy to get more insight into the challenges faced by the main characters and the difficult transition back to reality in the aftermath of flight 828.

The episode also touched upon what possibly could have happened in the five years that flight 828 went missing. If you were hoping to get some answers this week, think again. If anything this week’s episode will leave viewers asking even more questions as far as the mystery is concerned. Throughout the episode, I began to really pick up on the religious undertones of the show, whether it be through the mysterious shadow Cal drew in the family photo (the holy spirit perhaps?) or the woman stopping Cal only to exclaim “He has Risen!” However,  things took a dramatic turn in the last few seconds of the episode, when one of the passengers was shot dead in her home by a mysterious shadow. Could this shadow be the same shadow as in Cal’s drawing? Could the government actually be involved in the mystery? One thing’s for sure, the Government may try to desperately cover up their tracks but the bond of the passengers aboard flight 828 is unbreakable.

Fasten your seatbelts everyone, because we’re in for one hell of a ride!man
